OverviewA native of Pella, Iowa, Jake is an associate in the firm's litigation and appellate divisions. Jake's practice focuses on the defense of licensed professionals, including dentists, physicians, and other medical providers, as well as litigation involving construction companies and related commercial industries. He routinely litigates complex civil lawsuits and represents licensees before professional licensing boards. Jake graduated with distinction from the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law, where he served as an articles editor on the Arizona Law Review and a senior writing fellow for the Journal of Appellate Practice and Process. He also served on the leadership team of Innovation for Justice, a legal-innovation lab promoting access to justice. Prior to law school, Jake taught English in Taiwan on a Fulbright grant. He later served as the coordinator for RefugeeRISE Global Youth Connections, an AmeriCorps program in Des Moines. Jake received his undergraduate degree from Central College in Pella.
